Christmas traditions around the world - with a Twist

Christmas season is something that is enjoyed in most parts of the world and every country has its own set of traditions, some are very similar, while others are unique. Then there are some that are downright strange.

Apart from the country's culture and specific traditions, there is also the whole family or personal traditions. A very different Christmas tradition is very old in Norway. It was a old belief that on Christmas Eve, the witches and evil spirits will come upon the cities in search of broom in which to ride. So all the villagers were hiding brooms in which they believed could not be found. Today's modern age also sees traces of this custom. The men of the house bravely go outside to shoot a shotgun, threatening and frightening witches.

In the Czech Republic, girls who dream of marriage has a very unusual Christmas tradition. In the Christmas Eve, these waiting to be girlfriends, will stand on their return home. Next will launch one of her shoes over her shoulder toward the door. Now if the shoe lands with the heels towards the door, then unfortunately she stays single for another year. Moreover, if the tip of the points of shoes at the door, is believed to be married before next Christmas. It will start making their preparations for the wedding and leave the house of his parents!

If you feel the shoe launch the tradition is interesting, throw the food is pretty intriguing tradition. Now, if you like a clean home, especially at this festive time of year, so do not want to adopt this tradition. All members of the family sitting down to Christmas dinner. The head of the family has a good sized spoonful special traditional Christmas dish of bread poppy seed filling and water. This is called Rakvere. Then she will initiate this strong tablespoon Loksa to the ceiling, while looking to see how all of this gooey mixture has stuck in the ceiling. Now this is very important because the more that is stuck in the ceiling, the better the harvest. This is a tradition that continues throughout Slovakia and Ukraine. It provides great family fun, except possibly for women who have to clean up the mess.

In many countries people attending in mass or Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. This also applies in Caracas, Venezuela with one exception, all roller skates mass. This is a big traditional event as all roads within the city are closed to car traffic. It is a great alternative to ice skating because the climate is too warm for snow or ice.

Description

My personal experience, when I travel in Georgia and accidentally came to wedding. I never met these people before, but Georgians are very hospitable people, they can invite strangers to wedding. They fill up a horn with wine (about 200g). Problem was that you can't put horn on the table unless it will be empty. So I finished a horn and start to eat. But somebody filled it again and my hand became busy until I finished 2nd horn. But it followed 3rd. Can you imagine in what shape I returned to my hotel?
