How do I create a floral arrangement to the top of a wedding cake?

I'm interested in doing my own simple flower arrangements for the tops of the 6 "and 9" levels of our wedding cakes around in an effort to save some money. What is the best way to do this without the flowers fade before its time to cut the cake?

Go to a florist shop on the day before or the morning of his wedding. You can buy very cheap flowers there, just buy the flowers per stem, not a deal because you can organize and cut yourself (probably you'll have to cut the stems too short to put on the cake). Grocery stores have really great prices for flowers only premium (like $ 0.25 each) I can not imagine you'd need more than 10-15 small pastel flowers two regimes. If you cut the cake and place in the morning or afternoon of your cake to be last day (until you cut the cake). It will only be 5-7 hours, so it should last if they are fresh. Good Luck!
